About Us

Minds Ahead is the brain child of Hashim & Nusrat, parents of two beautiful & bright girls - who were spending way too much time on their iPad...We were looking for learning solutions that were fun yet challenging and that would leave a lasting impact on their minds. That's when we found out about the UCMAS brain development programs.

UCMAS is the world's largest and most successful educational entities that provides innovative and effective learning solutions to thousands of children around the world. Infact, they have a proven track record in enhancing children's cognitive skills.

We first enrolled our older daughter for their program - to see if the claim was correct. And it definitely was. Her learning curve took a sharp turn as the course boost her grasping, memory and observation skills amongst others. Soon enough her academic performance soared. This was the last push we needed to bring this amazing program to other parents like us who wanted their children to do more than just gaming! A word of clarification - we don't shun technology. We just want our children to be more reliant on and confident of their own skills and abilities than on gadgets.

Apart from the UCMAS programs, we also offer a variety of creative courses for adults. Why should kids have all the fun?! From sketching, painting with oil, acrylic and water colours to photography and music, there's something for everyone at Minds Ahead.

Understanding UCMAS Abacus

It's been nearly a month since the kids have been  back to school. With the children settling into their new routines, most parents are now prepping to sign up kids for after-school activities. UCMAS Abacus remains a popular choice for many parents but there are some who are still not sure of the benefits the program yields. Go through our list of FAQs to cut the confusion and know why UCMAS is the right choice for every child. 1. I do not see the value of mental arithmetic; children are allowed to use calculators now. UCMAS is not just a math program. It is a mental development program that uses mental arithmetic as a tool. There may be some value for kids doing arithmetic that is fast and accurate but the mental abilities and skills learnt at UCMAS are the ultimate goal and can be applied to almost every aspect of child's life, academic or otherwise. 2. My child is really smart when it comes to math, does s/he still need UCMAS? As we've just s...

Playing Board Games is Good for Your Brain!

Did you know playing board games on a frequent basis is really good for you? Games don't need to be overtly academic to be educational, however. Just by virtue of playing them, board games can teach important social skills, such as communicating verbally, sharing, taking turns, and enjoying interaction with others. Board games can foster the ability to focus, and lengthen your child's attention span by encouraging the completion of an exciting, enjoyable game. Even simple board games like Snakes and Ladders offer meta-messages and life skills: Your luck can change in an instant — for the better or for the worse. The message inherent in board games is: Never give up. Just when you feel despondent, you might hit the jackpot and ascend up high, if you stay in the game for just a few more moves. Check out all the benefits below! 1. Taking Turns This is one of the first things you learn about playing games, that there are times when you get to act, and times when you wai...

What Is Left Brain - Right Brain Theory?

Have you ever heard people say that they tend to be more of a right-brain or left-brain thinker?  According to the theory of left-brain or right-brain dominance, each side of the brain controls different types of thinking. People who identify as left-brain thinkers feel that they have strong math and logic skills. Those who profess to be right-brain thinkers, on the other hand, feel that their talents are more on the creative side of things. A person who is "left-brained" is often said to be more logical, analytical, and objective. A person who is "right-brained" is said to be more intuitive, thoughtful, and subjective. Today, neuroscientists know that the two sides of the brain collaborate to perform a broad variety of tasks. In fact, recent research has shown that abilities in subjects such as math are strongest when both halves of the brain work together. The UCMAS Abacus program is designed to stimulate both sides of the brain enhancing mathematical ability i...
