What's On Offer

Minds Ahead Institute offers the following learning programs for children between the ages of 6 and 12:

UCMAS Abacus:
This program teaches children to use the abacus instrument to solve complex arithmetic calculations with speed and accuracy. In fact, a number of studies show a correlation between proficiency in the abacus and increased attention, focus, creativity and visualisation skills, logic and reasoning.
After repetitive use, children begin to visualise the abacus tool in their mind and are later able to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers with over 10-digits in seconds. Class is for two hours, once a week.

Robotics:
Through multi-level courses, the IKEN Robotica progarm introduces students to the basics of modelling, design, planning and control of robotic systems. They learn robotics assembly along with principles of electricity and electronic structures in the process of making their first robot.
The course integrates STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) principles, and allows students to deepen their intellectual and practical experience in problem-posing and problem-solving. Class is for two hours once a week.

Vedic Maths:
An ancient system of Mathematics, Vedic Mathematics consists of 16 Word Formulae and 13 Sub Formulae which can be used for solving mathematical problems in a far simpler manner. It offers techniques and shortcuts to master numerical calculations in split seconds. Using these techniques, it is possible to solve all known mathematical problems in the branches of Arithmetic, Algebra , Geometry, and Calculus.

Rubik's Cube:
The Rubik’s Cube has remained a popular toy for all ages since its release in 1980. Despite being invented over four decades ago, the cube still challenges new generations and doesn’t look like it’s going to stop soon. The mathematical implementations behind the cube such as algorithms and combinations of moves help to make it a great educational tool.

Drama:
Drama isn’t just about stealing the spotlight. It’s a great way for children to improve their communication skills, imagination, concentration, collaboration and self confidence. A performance class is also a great way to keep fit, make friends and have fun

Art:
Our comprehensive art program introduces youngsters to the art techniques of colouring and shading, sketching and drawing, clay molding, and batik painting. Students explore colour, composition, and use a wide variety of materials to develop their creative abilities.Class is for two hours, once a week.

DNAg2:
The radical DNAg2 (Dermatoglyphics- Finger Print Analysis) skill assessment program comes to the UAE straight from the desk of the Founder Director Prof. Dr. Diinoh Wong. An innovative concept in personality assessment, this test will reveal your innate intelligences, IQ, EQ, AQ and CQ as well as give suggestions on which line of study and career paths are best suited for you.

Understanding UCMAS Abacus

It's been nearly a month since the kids have been  back to school. With the children settling into their new routines, most parents are now prepping to sign up kids for after-school activities. UCMAS Abacus remains a popular choice for many parents but there are some who are still not sure of the benefits the program yields. Go through our list of FAQs to cut the confusion and know why UCMAS is the right choice for every child. 1. I do not see the value of mental arithmetic; children are allowed to use calculators now. UCMAS is not just a math program. It is a mental development program that uses mental arithmetic as a tool. There may be some value for kids doing arithmetic that is fast and accurate but the mental abilities and skills learnt at UCMAS are the ultimate goal and can be applied to almost every aspect of child's life, academic or otherwise. 2. My child is really smart when it comes to math, does s/he still need UCMAS? As we've just s...

Understanding Critical Thinking!

Critical thinking is a term that we hear a lot, but many people don't really stop to think about what it means or how to use it. Critical thinking is not a matter of simply accumulating information. A person with a good memory and who knows a lot of facts is not necessarily good at critical thinking. Critical thinking should also not be confused with being argumentative or being critical of other people. Although critical thinking skills can be used in exposing fallacies and bad reasoning, critical thinking can also play an important role in cooperative reasoning and constructive tasks. What exactly is critical thinking? Critical thinking means making reasoned judgments that are logical and well thought out. It is a way of thinking in which you don't simply accept all arguments and conclusions you are exposed to but rather have an attitude involving questioning such arguments and conclusions. It requires wanting to see what evidence is involved to support a particular argumen...

What Is Left Brain - Right Brain Theory?

Have you ever heard people say that they tend to be more of a right-brain or left-brain thinker?  According to the theory of left-brain or right-brain dominance, each side of the brain controls different types of thinking. People who identify as left-brain thinkers feel that they have strong math and logic skills. Those who profess to be right-brain thinkers, on the other hand, feel that their talents are more on the creative side of things. A person who is "left-brained" is often said to be more logical, analytical, and objective. A person who is "right-brained" is said to be more intuitive, thoughtful, and subjective. Today, neuroscientists know that the two sides of the brain collaborate to perform a broad variety of tasks. In fact, recent research has shown that abilities in subjects such as math are strongest when both halves of the brain work together. The UCMAS Abacus program is designed to stimulate both sides of the brain enhancing mathematical ability i...
